What is Renewable Energy

What is Renewable Energy ?

Renewable Energy is energy produced from natural resources such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides and geothermal heat which are renewable (natural).

Renewable Energy technologies range from solar power, wind power, hydroelectricity/micro hydro, biomass and biofuels for transportation.

It is produced from natural processes that are continuously replenished and available for consumption. This includes sunlight, geothermal heat, wind, tides, water, and various forms of biomass. This energy cannot be exhausted and is constantly renewed.

Ireland and Renewable Energy

Under the Renewable Energy Directive Ireland has set a target of producing 16% of all its energy needs from renewable energy sources by 2020.

Between 2005 and 2014 the percentage of energy from renewable energy sources grew from just 3.1% to 8.6% of total final consumption.

By 2020 Ireland has a target of producing 42.5% of its electricity needs from renewable electricity.

Ireland has great potential in the area of renewable energy, and it is pretty significant at that – high wind speeds, a long coastline with significant potential for wave energy, and good climate and soil conditions for biofuel manufacturing to name but a few.

Midland Renewables is managed and staffed by an alliance of solar, renewable and sustainable energy advisers, engineers and installers, who, are highly qualified with a vast combined wealth of knowledge and experience in providing complete energy efficient solutions to a broad spectrum of clients.

Midland Renewables have numerous successful installations ranging from a single renewable technology such as Solar Panels, Air-source or Geothermal Heat pumps to a complete whole A-rated building installation of complimentary renewable and energy efficient technologies.
